Thursday News Update

Here's the news (or at least, the news I know about).

• Debbie Grossman over at Popular Photography magazine posted her review of Photoshop CS3, along with her top five reasons to upgrade. Click here to read it online.

• Derek Story has a helpful article on using Photo Rescue to recover erased photos from a memory card (Here's the link).

• Want a free lens hood for your digital camera lenses? Well, this is the next best thing (it's free, and it's a lens hood, but....). Well, just check it out.

• Got a minute to watch something really cute? It's a really clever animation (sent my way by Julie, our Photoshop World conference director), but I don't want to spoil it by telling what it is, other than I promise it will make you smile). Then click right here

• My new book on Adobe Lightroom (The Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers---shown above) is off press and will be making its debut next week at Photoshop World, where we'll have copies for sale in the official bookstore. The book will be showing up in bookstores any day now, and if you've preordered your copy, you'll be among the first to get yours. If you haven't ordered yours (and I hope you will), click right here.

• Adobe has posted the latest edition of their cool PDF-based magazine called "Adobe Edge" and you can download it free from their site.

• Want some really cool free Photoshop Brushes? These are brushes that look like water stains (like you left a cold drink on a newspaper or fine wood table). They're cooler than it sounds, and....we.... they're free! Check 'em out by following this link.

• If you're a photographer and you're already signed up for Photoshop World next week, you'll want to snag one of the remaining spots for the Lightroom hands-on pre-conference workshop, held on Tuesday, April 3rd. It's called "Photoshop Soup2Nuts" and it features a who's who of Lightroom development, including Thomas Knoll (the man who wrote Photoshop and Camera Raw), plus Mark Hamburg (the "Father of Lightroom"), plus Jeff Schewe, Andrew "The Digital Dog" Rodney, and Adobe's Pro-photo evangelist George Jardine, among others. To reserve your spot, call 813-433-5005.

Scott, Amazon is notifying pre-order customers that shipping is delayed until early June. Much puzzlement in the ALR forum, given your off-press post above. Update delay? Demand? Can you clarify? Thanks.

Hey Scott, Should we cancel our orders placed in January with Amazon and purchase from our local bookstore? Really looking forward to having the Lightroom book in hand! Thanks Hugh C

Hey Scott,

I'm with all the others... was very much looking forward to your Lightroom book so that I could get up to speed with my new Lightroom installation... alas, I've had to approve my 3rd or 4th delay in Shipping on Amazon for your book. What gives? I thought you and the publisher were like this (picture index and middle fingers intertwined)...

Clicking-and-dragging seems not to work for many of us. For slideshows I've had to re-order images manually by renaming each slide in a series.
