TIP: Handy "New Document" Tip

In Photoshop's New Document dialog there are pop-up menus to choose your unit of measure (inches, pixels, etc.). If you change the Width to Inches, the Height field automatically changes to Inches as well. But what if you want the Width measured in inches, but the Height in pixels? Here's the trick: hold the Shift key before you choose your unit of measure, then you can change each one individually. [Historical note: having to change each individually was the default setting for years, until Julieanne Kost convinced the engineers that 99% of the time most people wanted both settings the same, so they switched it to the more convenient default we use today. Yea Julieanne--advocate of the "Photoshop People!"
