Monday Morning News Update

That title sounds pretty official, eh? Well, here's a quick at what's going on:

• I'm working on a project with legendary photographer Joe McNally, and he'll be down here at NAPP's Headquarters for the next couple of days, so we're pretty pysched to have Joe, and his wife Anne Cahill (who's a brilliant photographer herself, and an authority on Nikon wireless flash systems, which is handy since she works for Nikon).

• Many thanks to Terrance Kibiloski and the Editors at Computer Times, who gave my book, "The Digital Photography Book" their Editor's Choice Award. In doing so said "While it is rather easy to create interest and excitement in a photography classroom, it is much more difficult to do so in a photography book. Scott does just that by providing photo tips that are easy to apply for outstanding results. Even professionals will appreciate Scott's tips as he many times reminds us of tips and techniques we may have known in the film world but never quite seemed to master in the digital world of photography. ...We have many photography books in our collection that will now take a back seat to The Digital Photography Book, by Scott Kelby."

• Remember the Japanese version of Apple's "I'm a Mac/I'm a PC" TV spots that I mentioned last week? Well, Dr. J left a post here in the blog to mention that Apple UK has their own local version as well (see photo above). Check it out at Apple.com/UK

• Remember those Kodak retouching plug-ins I mentioned a week or so ago, and I wasn't sure if they were actually new (even though I read a news release about them?). Well, apparently, these are the same plug-ins that have been around for a while. A number of people posted really postive comments, and emails, about the plug-ins, but apparently there's nothing new---somebody's just breathing new life into their awareness.

• Had a number of questions recently about shooting thethered from the camera straight into Adobe Lightroom (by passing your memory card and going straight into the computer). I did a live step-by-step tutorial on Photoshop TV showing how to set the whole thing up (it's easier than you'd think). • Preorders for my soon-to-be-released new book on Adobe Lightroom, "The Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers" have pushed it into the Top Sellers category for Computer/Internet book on Amazon.com. I had released three electronic versions of the book (eBooks) on the public Beta versions of the software, but this final printed edition (on the eagerly awaiting final shipping version of Lightroom), has been rewritten from scratch, from the ground up and features more than 100 additional pages, two new chapters on the complete digital photography workflow with each step (including the on-location shoots), detailed step-by-step.
