Web-based version of Photoshop coming!
Yesterday, CNET reported that Adobe's CEO Bruce Chizen noted that a free Web-based version of Photoshop would be released this later this year, and that Adobe would make money off it by selling Web advertising (ala Google). Apparently, this version won't have the full feature set of either Photoshop CS3 or Elements 5, but will be a special version created just for the Web. Either way; I gotta tell ya---I didn't see this one coming.

This is actually shear genius because with the exposure Adobe will get (no pun intended) do this with a limited version, people will want the full version even more. I don't think that Adobe will lose any revenue because of it and they will get their product viewed by a larger market since many don't want to mess with a trial version that cancels within a time frame.
As you said it, I didn't see this coming either.

The references to "low end" and Google's Picasa tell you what this version will be like...
What I'd like to see from Adobe is a fully featured editing package that doesn't overlap or duplicate functionality in other products. Take Lightroom and Bridge for example. If you are a photographer and use Lightroom as the centre of your workflow, why do you need Bridge?
