Quick Update

Hi everybody! We'll, I'm back at home, after a solid month of travel. I just got back from a combo trip that started in Amsterdam, Holland where I spoke at the AdobeLive conference and ended up in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the Photoshop Soup2Nuts conference.

I did go on a photo shoot one day, but I didn't get anything I'd post here on the blog. Apparently, I need more than one day out to get a decent shot. :)

It's great to be back at home, in the office, and back in the groove (whatever that menas).

Nikon Releases D2Xs (update to D2X)

This week Nikon introduced a newly updated version of their popular D2X digital camera. The D2Xs now features a dimmed (masked) boundary area when shooting in High-Speed crop mode, an in-camera black and white mode, an improved LCD monitor, and a host of other improvements to the functionality (but not the picture quality) over the D2X. For more info, check out either RobGalbraith.com or dpreview.com

Out in The Bay Area

I was out in San Francisco this week teaching at a conference, and the day before a few buddies and I went out shooting with Warren White, who is a photo and location scout for Hollywood (and a really great guy to boot). He got us into lots of cool hidden places. Here's one of the photos taken while we were out shooting, but sadly it's not from one of those "hidden places" (click on the image for a larger version).

Photoshop TV Hits 2-Million Downloads in May!

Well, we finally did it---we hit the 2-Million Download Mark for the Month of May, 2006. Thanks to our viewers all around the world for all your support and for helping us spread the word about Adobe Photoshop, and thanks to our long time sponsors: Wacom, B&H Photo, iStockPhoto.com, DLO (Digital Lifestyle Outfitters), and Peachpit Press, who help to make it all happen. An Unexpected Shot From Sweden

Here's a shot I didn't expect to get in Sweden (click on the photo to see the larger version). In Stockholm, on the day when teenagers graduate from High School, they pile into old classic Amercian cars, flatbed trucks, and huge dumptrucks, and drive around the city celebrating by honking horns, screaming, and playing really loud music (I distinctly remember hearing "Sweet Child of Mine" at 120db.). It looks like an awful lot of fun, and the streets were full of these revelers yesterday. An old 1950's era Buick Roadmaster drove right in front of me, and the convertible was filled with graduates cheering and waving Swedish flags, and I got this shot as they rolled past me. What I like about the shot (besides the car, and the color), is that you only get a hint of the celebration, but that's enough.

Live from Adobe Live!

While I was at AdobeLive! in Stockholm, I taped a short video segment to give Photoshop TV veiwers a quick look at the event (that segment will air a week from Monday). Here's a shot (taken by my brother Jeff) outside the entrance to AdobeLive! (which was held in the beautiful China Theater in downtown Stockholm. Thanks to everyone who came out for the event (met lots of Photoshop TV viewers and NAPP members there), and also thanks to those of you who also attended the pro photographer event the next day in Sodermalm. :)
